GTA 6: standard or Ultimate: what is certain, and what is not
There are two editions, and the price gap between them is stable from one country to the next: we recorded it storefront by storefront. The detailed lists of what the higher edition contains, however, do not agree with each other, and we will not copy them.
What is established
Two editions are on sale: a Standard edition and a higher, more expensive one. Both appear on the storefront listings we record.
The price gap between them is the same everywhere, currency aside: the higher edition costs twenty units more than Standard in markets where the price is a round number. Our index gives the exact price in each country, with the storefront it came from and the date it was recorded.
A pre-order bonus, the Vintage Vice City Pack, comes with purchases made before 20 November, whichever edition is chosen. That comes from the publisher's announcement.
What we will not copy
The detailed contents of the higher edition, meaning vehicles, weapons, outfits and businesses, are published by the publisher on its own pages. Numbered lists also circulate widely, picked up from one site to the next.
While preparing this page, we found two accounts giving two different vehicle counts for the same edition. We have no way to settle it without the official page, so we do not settle it, and we publish no list.
That is frustrating to read, and it is deliberate: an inaccurate list inside a buying decision is worth less than no list at all. The link to the publisher's page is below, in the sources.
How to decide anyway
The useful question is not "which one has more", but "is that extra worth the price gap where I live". That gap is not the same everywhere once converted into your currency, and the price index shows it country by country.
One thing is certain: the pre-order bonus does not depend on the edition. It depends on the purchase date.
Content added by a higher edition unlocks as the game goes on, not all at once at the start. That changes what you get out of it if you play little.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the price gap between the two editions?
- Twenty units of the local currency in markets where the price is a round number. The price index gives the exact amount in each country, with its source and the date it was recorded.
- Does the pre-order bonus depend on the edition?
- No. According to the publisher's announcement, it comes with purchases made before 20 November, whichever edition is chosen.
- Why do you not publish the higher edition's content list?
- Because the lists going around do not agree with each other, and we could not settle it at the source. We would rather point to the publisher's page than copy an uncertain figure into a page used to decide on a purchase.
- Can you upgrade from one to the other after buying?
- That depends on the storefront and its upgrade policy, not on the publisher. Nothing has been published about it to date.
