GTA 6: why the price is not the same from one country to the next
The public price is not identical everywhere: each national store shows its own, in its own currency. We record those amounts country by country, exactly as displayed, with the date of each reading. This guide explains what the gaps cover, and why the cheapest store is almost never available to you.
What we actually measure
A recorded price is the amount shown on a national store's product page, on a given day, in that store's currency. We convert nothing: a conversion would be our number, not the store's.
Every row in the Loreside index carries the link to the product page and the date of the reading. That is the only way to know whether a gap is real, or whether two different moments are being compared.
The amounts live in the price index, not in this text. A price copied here would be wrong at the first repricing, and nobody would come back to fix it.
What the readings let anyone say
Across the euro area, the store publishes a single amount for all the markets concerned. In the EU, a price shown to a consumer must include taxes and mandatory charges: VAT, which differs from one member state to the next, is absorbed into that amount rather than added at payment.
Outside the euro area, each market has its own amount in its own currency. Comparing them means picking an exchange rate on a specific date, and that choice belongs to the reader, not to us.
The only solid statement remains the reading itself: this amount, this store, this day. Anything beyond that, purchasing power or pricing strategy, is an interpretation we do not offer.
Why buying from a cheaper country is not a plan
A PlayStation account's country is chosen when the account is created, and platform support is explicit: it cannot be changed afterwards. This is not a setting, it is a permanent decision taken on day one.
The same page adds two conditions: billing information must match the account's country in order to buy and download, and available content and services vary from one country to another.
Creating a second account in another country moves the problem rather than solving it: a purchase stays attached to the account that made it, along with that account's country.
What is still worth checking before you pay
Your account's country first, since it decides the price you will see and cannot be changed.
Then the edition: an amount says nothing until you know what it covers. Comparing the editions is a page of its own.
Finally the date of the reading. A price can be revised without notice, and a price without a date is only a memory.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I buy from a cheaper country?
- Not from an existing account: its country is fixed at creation and cannot be changed. Billing information must also match that country.
- Why is the amount the same across the euro area?
- Because the store publishes a single price there, taxes included. VAT differs between member states but is absorbed into that amount rather than added at checkout.
- Does a VPN change the price shown?
- The price depends on the account's country, not on where you connect from. And that country cannot be changed after creation.
- Where are the country by country amounts?
- In the price index, with the link to the product page and the date we read it for every single row.
