The GTA 6 trailers: the official timeline
The publisher released two trailers, in December 2023 and May 2025, then three more videos in 2026. What many people search for as a third trailer was never released by them.
The publisher's five video releases, in order
4 December 2023: "Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1". The first trailer.
6 May 2025: "Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2". The second, and to date the last to carry that name.
18 June 2026: "Grand Theft Auto VI: Official Cover Art Reveal". Its description announces that pre-orders will open on 25 June.
6 August 2026: "An Extended Look Coming August 27", announcing the next release.
27 August 2026: "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look". The most recent release.
There is no third trailer
The search comes back in several languages, and it returns results. Those results do not come from the publisher.
The official channel carries no video titled "Trailer 3". What surfaces under that name belongs to third-party channels: edits, concepts, compilations. Some are careful work, none is a publisher release.
The distinction is easy to check yourself: the channel name appears under every video. If it is not the publisher's, it is not an official trailer, however good the edit.
The August 2026 release is not presented as a trailer by the publisher either: it carries the name "An Extended Look", not third trailer.
What the publisher writes about its own footage
The "is it gameplay or cutscenes" question needs no interpretation: the publisher answers it in its own descriptions.
For the second trailer: "This trailer was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes."
For the August release: "Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5." And then, in the same description: "Grand Theft Auto VI plays best on PlayStation 5."
The first trailer carries no such sentence. Its description holds only the music credits, "Love Is A Long Road" by Tom Petty. The second credits "Hot Together" by The Pointer Sisters.
The August release premiered elsewhere before the official channel
The 6 August announcement sets out the broadcast order, and it is an unusual one.
"An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET and will also launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET on August 27."
So: first shown on a streaming platform at 3 p.m. US Eastern time, then posted on the publisher's channel and on the game's site six hours later.
That kind of detail explains why several versions of the same video circulate with different dates depending on the time zone.
The store text dates from May 2025
One cross-check is worth noting, because it establishes where a text the site quotes often actually comes from.
The second trailer's description, published on 6 May 2025, carries the synopsis the store listings show today: "Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them [...]"
The text the stores publish is therefore not a shop's copywriting. It is the publisher's, and it has not changed since May 2025.
It adds one line the listings do not repeat: "Explore Vice City and beyond."
