GTA 6 on PS4 and Xbox One

The official GTA 6 listings mention neither PS4 nor Xbox One. What makes that absence meaningful is that the same store knows perfectly well how to sell one game across two generations: it does exactly that for the previous game, and it says so.

What the listings carry, word for word

On the PlayStation Store, the GTA 6 listing carries the label "PS5 Version". PS4 appears nowhere on the page: not in the title, not in the labels, not in the description.

On the Xbox Store, the capabilities list reads "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S". Xbox One is likewise absent.

Both readings were taken on the same day, on the two official stores.

The detail that makes the absence meaningful

An absence on its own proves nothing: perhaps the store simply never mentions older consoles. Except it does, for the same publisher's previous game.

On the PlayStation Store that game is titled, literally, "Grand Theft Auto V (PS4™ & PS5™)", carries both labels, and a sentence states that buying it entitles you to download both the PS4 version and the PS5 version.

So the store knows how to sell one game across two generations under a single product, it has wording for it, and it uses that wording. Not using it for GTA 6 is therefore not a layout oversight.

What it does not say

Neither listing states that the game will not run on PS4 or Xbox One. They do not mention them, which is not the same as a denial, and this page will not make a listing say more than it says.

A listing describes what is sold today. What the publisher may choose to do later is not readable there, and nothing has been published on the subject.

The day a version for another console is announced, this page will cite it with its date and its link.

If you own a PS4 or an Xbox One

As things stand, nothing published supports counting on a version for those consoles at launch. The only editions on sale are for the consoles listed above.

It is also the one part of getting ready that calls for a decision in advance rather than an action on the day: changing console is not something done the night before.

And no PC version has been announced either, which closes the other usual way out. The dedicated guide covers what is published, and above all what is not.

Frequently asked questions

Will GTA 6 come to PS4?
Nothing announces it. The official PlayStation listing carries the single label "PS5 Version" and mentions PS4 nowhere, while the same store sells the previous game on PS4 and PS5 under one product, with a sentence saying so.
What about Xbox One?
Same situation: the Xbox listing reads "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S" and does not mention Xbox One.
Does the listing say it will be impossible?
No, and the nuance matters. It does not mention those consoles; it nowhere writes that they are excluded. A listing describes what is sold, not what never will be.
Can I play on PC instead?
No PC version has been announced either. Both of the usual ways out are therefore closed for now, and Loreside will say so the day one opens.
